Indeed, but also look at my message to Gordon. The Earth is not a flat
surface so when plotting distances one has to account for the curves and at
the higher latitudes degrees are much closer to eachother than way down.
Ask any pilot, he'll confirm.
Besides, a road rarely is the shortest line between 2 points.
