| subject: | Java Fido software |
Now there's a painful thought. Java has so many 'requirements'
surrounding it that it's not a first choice. I do a tremendous amount
of development in Java, EJB, JSP, ASP etc etc and it's painfully slow.
Don't know if that's a good idea for the hobbist. Just the repetitive
nature of reading/writing files (ie: allocation - no deallocation) of
memory in the JVM. Who knows what kind of problems that could lead too.
Not to mention serial port communications.

-> If we're talking about implementing some object oriented Fido software
-> why not just take Java. Not everybody has Delphi, and Delphi knowledge
-> is not as widespread as Java knowledge (and, furthermore, I know a bit
-> Java).
-> AFAIK, there's not a GNU or freely distributable Delphi5, isn't it?
-> And - not everybody is running Windows on his machine.
