Hi folks,
No one has posted a complete review of the new Genesis CD in here
and I don't intend to do it. Why? Because there is no way that I'm
going to listen to the whole thing.
I had a chance to "track" it in a demo at a local store and it
didn't sound much different from the band I last listened to in 1977.
Phil is gone but the whimpy music remains. To me, it sounds like
average pop from the eighties (ex:Simple Minds). It could have
some sort of success with mass audiences but I wish prog fans would
give-up on them and let them die in peace.
If what you want is the feeling of earlier Genesis, there are tons
of neoprog bands that offer just that. The new Genesis is of NO
INTEREST to prog fans and confirms that, even with pathetic old Phil
gone, the remaining weaknesses are enough for the band to keep marching
in the same direction.
Kill the damned thing before the name losses all dignity.
