subject: BC-200 XLT `AUDIO MODS`

BB> MM> Recently someone sent me a message telling me how to make an
"audio

BB>Toughest little scanner i've ever owned, long overdue for a new
  >battery though.
It is a great little scanner. My constant companion, even when I'm
working around the farm. I'm lucky and had a Pro-35 which has a battery
pack which is very similar to the stock BC-200 XLT's and fits on quite
well. So I use the Pro-35 as a base scanner with a power supply and
keep it's battery pack charged as an extra...
BB> MM> My questions are: does anyone know what and why it does this? And,
BB>The attenuation on the earphone jack is to save your eardrums and

  >Grounding the earphone jack to the antenna jack on the BC-200 bypasses

Thanks a lot for the explanation and information. Sets my mind at
ease as to using that "mod".
Been using it sparingly until I found out for sure. BTW, I use a big
alligator clip with a stretched spring and a couple of layers of
aluminum foil on the teeth for padding so it won't scratch the antenna
connector. Works good.
