I think it's a deliberate design -- the slats run out forward at low
speed and create a "slot". It's extremely docile, cleared for all
the aerobatics you can make it do (not many, I suspect) and S-L-O-W
(like, cruise is 75mph -- 71 knots).

That's the TB series -- the grandsons of the Rallye. They ARE very
sexy looking, but they haven't been around all that long and are a
bit of an unknown factor. There's a TB20 (Trinidad, retractable)
on the airfield here. The owner's been trying to sell shares in it
for three years, but no takers. Looks gorgeous, got all the latest
avionics etc, but he paid GBP 75,000 ($120k) for it and wants the
shareholders to pay their share of that.
I didn't have the cheek to ask for a test flight, knowing I was
planning to join the Arrow group (at half the share price, and lower
monthly and hourly costs).
