Re: Re: Setting up Kermit protocol with TG By: Scott Adams to Mike Roberts on Sun Aug 08 2004 03:47 am > My question is that why use Kermit? Its so ancient or did they come > out with a modern version? :) I can only answer this question in my experience. I guess there are still some dos users who refuse to upgrade their software, for whatever reason. My understanding is, that the cannot use z-modem fdsz or cexyz either. for uploads, when telnetting. supposedly it does not work on a telnet connection. I have a good user who, this was the case. However her husband, being good with Computers, had done some modifications, which allowed zmodem use on telnet with dos. In the Blue wave Echo this is talked about quite a bit. It just boils down to, as a sysop, is it important to provide kermit for the few. I must say, I agree with you, it seems like there really is no call for it. If it wasn't for the one user on my system, It isn't worth the effort to fix it or provide it. Many do disagree with me though. On the other hand the proof is in the pudding. It's not like their is a clammer to provide kermit. There is a hand full of bbs users though who seem to want it, maybe for more reasons than I have given here. ... Borg Burgers-We do it our way!
