But what SH> percentage of the total number of PCs out there are they and SH> how many of them even run Windows as opposed to Unix or Linux? i don't know the percentage... many of them run windows as that's what was on them when they were purchased... for them to have unix or linux on them, they'd have to have been purchased quite a while ago (for unix) or very recently (for linux)... TTBOMK, the ones i speak of are all running win9x or DOS... of those running win9x, most of them are win95 original (ie: no A, B, or C)... believe it or not, there are still many IBM PCATs out there with their original 5 or 10 meg harddrive with their original version of DOS that came with them... plodding along doing the job they were conscripted to do... i've even had a client that used one with an old old old accounting program written in basic... they wanted some new features and capabilities that they knew that everyone else has had as part of the package but management was not going to spend $1500 for a new machine with quickbooks on it... oh well... their loss... they are still struggling along today and that was at least 5 years ago when i was in to see them about that... )\/(ark* Origin: (1:3634/12) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 3634/12 106/2000 633/267 |
