In the beginning, before God, there were two piece tachs...Had one on my 55
Chevy...Basically, there was a solid state unit that interpreted a signal
from the coil and sent a message to the tach-head which was nothing more than
a ampmeter or voltmeter. Later, they integrated them into the same unit.
Mine has one transister that gets turned on and off by the signal from the
coil. Meter works fine, light even lights up. Transistor has crapped out.
I've been in there snooping and even wrote down the transistor number, looked
it up and even planned on buying one, but never got a-round-to-it...
One of these days when I've got nothing better to do..:)
... You know you are loved when you have been triangled!
