Hello all! (Nice to see some familiar "faces" in here...)
I've just been given a fair pile of cards and such, and hope that perhaps
some of these might prove useful towards getting some machines tied together
here.
There's this machine, which runs the bbs, dos/dv and plans to move to os/2
later on when I can afford another HD and some additional hardware. Then
there's the "family" machine, in the other room, which runs dos/win3.11 (I
can make that one boot into win if I want to use that one for network
support). And then there's this xt sitting here, which is going to be a
"test fixture" for trying out different stuff. That's likely to end up with
a 286 MB dropped into it in the near future.
Of these network cards, I know that there's a pair of arcnet cards in there,
but only two, I believe. I was told that these are 62 ohm rather than any
more common values (is the cable going to be really that cricital?) and a
bunch of others. I can start posting specific model numbers and such if it'd
help.
I have no software at hand at the moment that supports networking, and no
real idea as to how to test these out to see if they're any good. I figure
that when someone wants to hand me a box of them, though, I'm not gonna
complain about the price!
Any hints, tips, ideas, etc. would be much appreciated.
