Hi folks. I have just released BTPE 3.03. This is a HACK of
Binkley 2.50. It includes OS/2 32-bit and DOS 16-bit executables,
with complete source code. It can be obtained by FREQing "BTPE"
from 3:711/934. It is 663903 bytes in size (sheesh!). It is not
being hatched into any TIC areas, nor is it available for FTP,
although others may choose to do both.
The reason for this version being created was that I *REQUIRE*
the source code to operate my system properly, and I *WANTED*
a 32-bit OS/2 version.
By and large, there are no functional differences between
Binkley 2.50 and BTPE 3.03, and I will not be entertaining any
requests for enhancements, as this is mostly for my personal
use. The only changes from 2.50 that I can think of are:
1. OS/2 32-bit supported.
2. Baud rates up 57600 or higher are supported.
3. Added "aftercall" keyword.
4. All unnecessary delays in session startup have been eliminated.
5. All compiler warnings squashed.
6. Compiles under OS/2 with Watcom, EMX, Borland, CSET compilers.
7. Includes ability to debug every character sent to/from the modem.
8. At least 1 bug fix (possibly more, it's been a long time).
9. Entries in log are timestamped to the hundredth of a second.
The most appropriate forum to discuss BTPE is probably NET_DEV,
although the OS2PROG and BINKLEY echos may entertain *limited*
discussion (make sure you stop as soon as you see any moderator
messages saying to stop).
The elimination of the unecessary Bink delays has enabled some
people to go from connect message to zmodem transfer in the
space of about 1 second. Of course it's not so fast when
connecting to a mailer with inbuilt delays. Also there are
sometimes unexplained delays even between two BTPE sessions.
I will post an example log in the BINKLEY echo only.
BFN. Paul.
