BV> My first job paid $2 per week. During the week I started at
BV> 6:00am and finished at 8:30am. On Saturdays and Sundays, I
BV> started at 6:30am and finished at about 10:00am. After 4 weeks,
BV> I realised that I was never going to make it by being a
BV> paper-boy, so I practiced Billiards and put myself through
BV> school that way.
BL> ROFL! I was smarter than you, then: I only lasted a week!

But I caught on FAST.

BL> My brother was the paper boy, and the bloody newsagent kept cheating
BL> him by saying he was short, so Dad made me go around with him and
BL> count the money... and then the newsagent didn't cheat him, so bloody
BL> John did the rounds and got the money, and I acted as an unpaid
BL> accountant! Bloody hell! When I complained and demanded half, Dad
BL> whacked me over the head. This taught me an important principle.

ROFL...Yeah.

" I sure as shit don't want fucking cornflakes for breakfast " :)

BL> In my day, all you had to do was work hard, and you could be rich.
BL> Places like Newtown and Sydneham were just temporary if you wanted
BL> out. Today, the rich are two-job families and the poor are no-job
BL> families, and the poor bastards in the middle end up funding both.

I think to much emphasis is placed on monetary wealth though. Look
at all those families with both partners working, they might think
they have lots of money, but they aren't really rich. They just
have lots of money.

As you know, there is more to life than money.

I'm very happy with my lot. In fact, I'm the richest bloke I know.
We don't have lots of money, but we can do anything we want.
We don't worry about where the next meal is coming from. Nor do we
worry about next weeks bills (because we don't have any). We don't
have a lot of money in the bank, but we don't have any debit either.
But we live comfortably and enjoy each others company.

Money isn't everything, its just that everything else is so darn expensive :)

BV> Gee, what a small world. A friend of mine lives in Probert St.
BV> What number were you in ?
BL> We lived in the next street: 105 Chelmsford Street, down the railway
BL> line end. The house is full of Abos now. Probert Street was named Regent
BL> Street in those days, and had the brothel and the SP joint as I said.

Both places seem to have held a great fascination for you Bob :)

We lived in John Street, Erskinville when we first moved to Sydney.
Mum used to take us up to Newtown because it was "such a nice place".

Regards, Brenton
