Hi Kathy, I am Cosysop of the Avian Interactive Exchange.
I don't know if you are a sysop, but I can explain the x-rated bbs thing to
you. A lot of operators (but not all) have x-rated areas flat out because
hey
make money (smut sells). We have people call here and insist we allow them
access to our adult areas and files. When we try to explain that we do not
have any porn here they get angry and want to know why we are bothering to
un
a bbs for bird owners and insist it is just a cover like that other place.
I would just tell them that I didn't know much about the other place and that
they were free to go on calling them! Don't get me wrong I am not knocking
anyone here, We just feel as though there are enough x-rated places around
or
folks to call. We just wanted a nice friendly place where people could talk
about their birdies. When we started up we didn't realize BIN existed, if we
had we probably would not have set the system up. We didn't set up the system
to show a profit ( just for fun ?? ) , I had sort of figured it would lose
money. The real trick is to figure out how to make it lose as little as
possible and to try to make sure that every penny spent is going to be of
benefit to our members.. It has been an experience so far, boy have I learned
a lot over the past three years. Sorry, I know I went WAY off topic here,
just couldn't seem to help myself.
P.S. We eventuall want to set up a web page as soon as we find another
internet service provider (our local one went out of buisness) and AOL is
ike
watching paint dry (iritates me by running so slow).
