 Keep on wonderaing Alec. I read a rap in Computer Design about 
this very problem.  Seems the UPS vendors like custom batteries 
so they can put the squeeze on users who want longer backup time. 
There is a test based on the full charge amp draw rate over some 
period of time, but lacking any way to read the SG of electrolite 
in each cell, you are never sure.
