This is quite interesting. My son who is now 12 1/2 was diagnoised as
ADHD in first grade. He went on ritalin, and it did help, but it caused
alot of side effects for him. The last few years there has been few
hyperness episodes (not on ritalin since 2nd grade) and I believe he
really never was extremly hyper in the first place. I notice though
the last year that the last 2 years he seems to have real high and real
low times. Acting petcular at times with sillyness and getting that
way during happy moments and then dropping really low almost depressed.
My daughter was diagnosed as manic depressive a year ago and I am now
wondering myself if my son was misdiagnosed. Maybe ADD with bipolar
also. I see it more and more. He is also LD. I believe it is very
possible that children can be misdiagnosed with ADHD as bipolar seems
to come out more clearly during adolensence.
