subject: Warp Socket API for REXX

YM> Thank you everyone for the advice on RXSock.DLL. I've
YM> downloaded it recently and found it working to a certain
YM> degree. It is amazing to see how simple a Socket based
YM> client/server can be written in Rexx.
YM> But, the samples programs TEST_S.CMD and TEST_C.CMD
YM> for server and client component only working correctly
YM> only if I've connected to a host through SLIP dialup.
YM> I wonder if there is a way to configure my Warp IAK
YM> in such a way that does not required me to dialup, while
YM> 2 OS/2 session withclient and server components to talk
YM> to each other through Socket?

If you want to connect clients and servers on your own computer
without running slip you need to start the loopback interface.
In an OS2 window type "ifconfig lo 127.0.0.1" or to start it every
to you boot add "run=f:\tcpip\bin\ifconfig lo 127.0.0.1" to your
Config.sys replacing "f:\" with the path to your tcpip folder.

To connect to your server use the address "127.0.0.1" in the
client. You can create a file named "hosts" in your tcpip\etc
folder with the line "127.0.0.1 YOURCOMPUTERSNAME".
YOURCOMPUTERSNAME can be any name you wish. You can
now call your client with YOURCOMPUTERSNAME instead of
using the ip address.
