JJ> Hi Ivy,
Hi, John;
JJ> I dont have any further Info. The Charger was working fine,
JJ> and then a diode was literally cooked in half. Then The XFMR started
JJ> getting hot.
Careful visual inspection revealed nothing cooked in there, and all
diodes checked good with ohmmeter, so I replaced the xfmr, (which was
getting quite hot in a couple of minutes of what appeared to be normal
operation), and plugged it in. Since everything appeared normal and
diodes checked ok, I was hoping that the (current) problem was shorted
turns in the xfmr... WRONG GUESS! :-<
The rest of the story was in the msg I sent you. (1/2 A SB fuse never
blew!) :-<
JJ> Should be a 12 volt output, as the batteries are 12
JJ> volts, I thought.
Actually, according to the label on the bottom, it's rated output is
17.5 volts. (The origional xfmr & the one I replaced it with are
25 Volts). The replacement came from Radio Stuff - 12.3-0-12.3 V @
2 Amps... BARELY fit physically! The batteries are labeled 12.5 V.
Remember, like a car battery, you have to raise the input voltage above
the battery's voltage to charge it. :-}
JJ> I know the Local Motorola Shop has the Manuals, but
JJ> they won't share with me, but will Sell them for about $20.00 .
RATZ! Sorry, I can't handle another $20 right now. Maybe I can
wangle some info around here.
Many thanks es 73 DE KB9QPM

... I haven't lost my mind... it's on tape around here somewhere.
