It's about the same everywhere. Weapons are traded for dope, sold for cash,
used to satisfy debts, moved to a different area of town when things get hot,
etc. The police target the criminals who have weapons like this, and they
know it. There is a primary concern of innocent people getting killed when
they spray bullets in drive-bys, etc.
