Afterburner and the Minions are still alive and well.  The problem is
SpamCop's blocklist is brain dead.

If enough people complain about a spam from, say, nls.net - even if the
spammer is toasted to a crisp milliseconds after the spam is sent
- spamcop will do the math and blocklist the domain.
