I don't think so .....
You have me completely mystified now. I've never heard of dynoing
a car before you can buy plates. (How would anyone know what you were
running ... ?) I don't remember any chassis dynos being able to handle
500 hp back then. I did run a dyno back in the '60s and I don't think
anybody ever got more than around 200 into a set of Clayton 8" rollers
(the only chassis dyno I remember .... ). (That's why we used to test
and time at around 3000 rpm .... )
GM never made any injection stuff for the W-series motors. The '60s
'vette stuff was all small block. (The Rochester wouldn't flow
enough for a 400 inch motor. In fact, if you go back and look at that
stuff, it didn't really flow enough for a 327 small block. Even though
the FI 327 was rated at 375 HP and the dual quad version at 365, the
dual quad motor actually made more "real" horsepower. The only reason
for the FI, other than being "hi-tech" was to get rid of fuel starvation
in the corners for the road racers. The WCFB carbs (and AFBs) were
pretty bad on fuel slosh. (The center float Holleys didn't come along
until later.)
And anybody that couldn't get 500 hp out of a big inch '09 really didn't
know what they were doing. If you have to shave a few hp, why not just
loosen the rockers a little .... ?
I guess I'll just have to wonder about it. Oh well ....
