subject: File requesting with bink

Hello Kees,

On Sunday March 01 2015 14:53, you wrote to me:

The chief engineer of the British Post Office.

That, is the first argument against that makes sense to me. Indeed, new
features, new bugs. The one will have to be weighed against the other, The best
one ti judge is the developer. So I will leave it to him.

KE> Not the use should be "KISS", the software should.

And here we differ again. 40 years ago in the days when computer memory was
measured in bytes rather than in Gbytes, it made sense to have the user adapt
to the machine. But those days are over. The roles are reversed.

KE> If I were the lead developer, I would answer as the Lead of Linux
KE> does: "Show me the code, if it is good, I will include it."

That is not how I responded to user requests when I was still an active
programmer. I implemented user requests when they were reasonable and doable
without undue effort. I expect the next generation of programmers to extend the
same courtesy to me.

Cheers, Michiel
