-=> Quoting Carol Koster to Richard St. John <=-
Greetings,
CK> Yes, because the general public believes (erroneously) that the year
CK> 2000 starts the new millenium. It's actually the year 2001 that starts
CK> the milennium. Since I started reading Disney computer chat messages
CK> areas five years ago the anticipation to be at a Disney theme park when
CK> 1999 becomes 2000 has become an obsession. Rooms have been sold out
CK> for that particular New Year _for years_. The best you can hope for
CK> now is that there will be cancellations and that you can get on a
CK> waiting list of some sort.
When we were down there in May of this year {second trip this year} the
Shades Of Green {military} said that they might be the only resort that
has room open because you can only make reservations one year one week
in advance of your departure date. So they have not started to take
reservations for 1998-1999, 1999-2000, 2000-2001. The rest of the
resorts have a waiting list so long that if they took no reservations
until everyone was off the list, they would have rooms filled completely
till 2002.
CK> This subject comes up very frequently on
CK> Disney computer chat groups. If it means that much to you "pay da
CK> money" because to wait to the last minute, even this far in advance,
CK> you will be shut out. And I would keep calling Central Reservations at
CK> WDW periodically until your trip that particular year to keep
CK> reconfirming your reservations are still there and still in order, just
CK> to be on the safe side.
I will reconfirm about once a month. Already have the confirmation
numbers, etc. As it stands my wife and I are going to be down on the
Disney Properties for the new years in 1997-1998 {Grand Floridian},
1998-1999 {Contemporary}, 1999-2000 {Grand Floridian}, 2000-2001
{Contemporary}, and we are thinking about the new Cornodo Springs in
2001-2002. It has been our 'hobby' the past 5 years to go down every new
years.
CK> BTW, on Usenet Disney newsgroups one time
CK> someone purportedly from Disney held out that the significance of the
CK> year 2000 to Disney is in the Roman numerals for the year: MM (Get it?
CK> MM being "two thousand" and also the initials of Mickey Mouse. ;-))
They are correct are they not? ;-)8 After all, there is only one thing
that MM could possibly stand for.
