| subject: | Boot Drive From REXX |
Phil Crown wrote in a message to Murray Lesser: ML> I need to determine the current OS/2 boot drive (partition) from ML> within a REXX program. The only foolproof solution I have found is an PC> How about looking in the root directory of each drive for PC> config.sys and offer the user a menu to choose from. This PC> is how qvdm102 does it. This is a bad idea. I often install more than one copy of OS/2 on a single system, so that I can boot from an alternate partition for maintenance or testing. All of my test machines, for example, have two copies of OS/2 on them selectable from Boot Manager, so that I can recover quickly from an unbootable condition caused by a bad driver and also so that I can run the debugging kernel on the test partition. Kelly Schrock's idea of looking in the current environment seems much safer to me, although it is still something of a kludge. -- Mike ---* Origin: N1BEE BBS +1 401 944 8498 V.34/V.FC/V.32bis/HST16.8 (1:323/107) SEEN-BY: 105/42 620/243 711/401 409 410 413 430 807 808 809 934 955 712/407 SEEN-BY: 712/515 628 704 713/888 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 323/107 150 3615/50 396/1 270/101 105/103 42 712/515 711/808 809 934 |
