From: "Randy H"

Tandberg VS40 DLT1 hanging off a Symbios (now LSI Logic) U2W LVD controller.

The RSM is definitely the source of the problem; Retrospect bypasses RSM
and talks to the drive with no problems, and it plays nice with NT
Backup-that is, until something changes somewhere that gets RSM all bent
out of shape and NTBackup just up and stops working, and you can't do
anything with the media stored in RSM.

Had another nice little suprise happen. Doing an ASR restore appears to
sufficenely confuse up XP to the point that Windows Activation gets
triggered (you get the dreaded "becuase your hardware configuration
has changed significantly since the first time the system was
activated" or some such dialog box pop up.)

I'll now be doing Ghost copies every weekend, and let Retrospect do my
incrementals in between Ghosting images.
