AG> to what I know "CHRS: IBMPC 2" is the standard for CP437 and only MsgEd AG> refers to it as "CHRS: CP437 2". In my, slightly misguided, attempt at writing a new standards document for the CHRS kludge a couple of years ago, I tried to disambiguate the "IBMPC" tag by recommending explicitly using "CP437" or "CP850" or similar. Some programs have implemented it, but it hasn't caught on. In some Russian echos, it's not uncommon for "IBMPC" to mean CP866, as well :-/ Now that I really know something about characters encodings and Unicode (I work with that stuff), I really ought to try to write a proper document, but I don't even know if the FTSC is functioning anymore, nor if anyone would ever care, considering that Fidonet is more or less dead, clinging on to mostly dead software and technology. \\// Peter --- GoldED+/LNX 1.1.5* Origin: Softwolves Software {at} Oslo, Norway (2:204/254.222) SEEN-BY: 206/0 633/267 270 @PATH: 204/254 20/11 106/1 2000 633/267 |
