I don't know why you would bother as long as you can restrain yourself from 
using the upper 2 MHz.
If the radio has a cpu and the frequency range is controlled by a diode 
matrix AND you have the factory schematic with the radio, it will have all of 
the possible matrixes for each countries wierd bandplans.  Australia, U.S. 
and I believe Europe are covered on the same schematic.  At least it is with 
Icoms.
