Why would you want to monitor mgetty? On MBSE BBS, I would monitor 
"system.log" if I wanted to see what was happening, as it happened.

Yes, that I understand, but not only just with mgetty, but gett_ps as well, 
the other Fido aware getty, but for that matter any other getty. But from my 
point of view, using either mgetty, (prefered) or getty_ps, are by far the 
prefered way to handle the modem answering andhanding of to the BBS on 
Linux/FreeBSD platforms, tho I do accept, that in the case of Maximus, it 
might not be the most practicle way of handling these functions. :-(
