I never got a pretrial hearing or anything for the entire 60 days in jail. I've no idea what the clown who stole my wallet lied to the police about but they took his word for it with nothing to back it up as there was nothing to back it up. BTW, 60 days is the maximum for that misdomeaner charge. In lockdown 24/7 the entire time except for showers. Bond was all of 150 dollars however I was never allowed access to a phone the entire 60 days. Alysia Hunter was my public defender and got what amounts in latin legalese to charges dropped as there was no crime or evidence of a crime on my part. Just hearsay on the part of the guy who six hours earlier stole my wallet. That was *after* i served the maximum the charges were dropped. Only met Alysia Hunter P.D. day 60 the day I was ROR'ed. Subsequently that house was closed by the Saint Petersburg city council as a public nuscience and the three residents, drunks, thief and drug dealers evicted. 800 - 2nd Ave N. ST. Pete. The complaintent never showed in court, big surprise. I did take a second trip to jail for about another week because I didn't show either as not having gone to a doctor since 1995 I don't have the paperwork for a medicare cab. Turned myself in once I became aware of a warrant so the cops provided transportation. Big deal, jail isn't so bad in my circumstances. The food is delivered, you've got a shower and the bed damned comfortable with my injuries. It's not like I get out much anyway. 6 - 8 days a month maximum for as much as two hours tops? As to politics. I'll comment from time to time but mostly I really don't give a damn anymore. They're ALL crooks and liars and all bought out by corporate interests and the few honest ones don't have enough pull to make any sort of difference. Bush was a disaster. Obama isn't much better. Better on nonproliferation and perhaps I think he'll use the worthless missle defense system to trade off with the Russians to hold Iran's nuke program in check. At least that way some good might come from that ridiculous program. The technical reasons it's not feasable I leave to individuals to check for themselves. The former Republican majority in the house and senate removed rules and regulations in 1999 set into place after the great depression to prevent it occuring again. The result? Derivatives where corporate liabilites were hidden by tricky book keeping and passed off as corporate assets. I've seen the Democrats falling into line for their share of the graft now too. There were always some but now it appears there's little difference between the parties. A real unemployment rate of some 16 percent if you count the unemployed who've just given up. What this country needs is to a return to manufacturing and the attendent jobs as well as more commitment to research and development. 40,000 manufaturing plants closed between 2001 - 2007. I worked in a manufacturing plant for 7 years, I wonder if that outfit is still a going concern or if that one too was outsourced. Made decent money there too but it was a messed up work environment. i'd give just about anything to be able to go back to work there as bad as it was managed. Politics now is just a waste of time. Politicians have for too long discovered they will not be held accountable for their actions so they no longer represent the interests of the people, just their own self interests. Too much apathy and absence of civics education in schools led to the current situation. What to do now? You tell me, I figure we're too far down the slippery slope. IMO it's only going to get worse, much worse. Perhaps, just maybe if it gets really bad enough people will wake up and demand accountability and a representative government once again. That however is for the next generations to worry about. ...
