I just looked in the docs, and it says that while the combo box
responds to most of the listbox and entryfield messages (EM_SETREADONLY
being the one you're interested in), the EM_SETREADONLY message is not
listed among them. You could try it, and if it doesn't work, try
sending the entry field component of the combo the message explicitly,
like this:

WinSendMsg(WinQueryWindow(hwndCombo, CBID_EDIT), EM_SETREADONLY,      
 (MPARAM)TRUE, 0);
