The time to put the old one to bed is _after_ the new one comes out and sales 
of the old one start to slide.  They would be throwing away money if they 
stopped selling off their stockpile of older units just because a newer one 
was coming out in a few months.  That would be like a car dealer refusing to 
sell a '98 model because the '99 models have been announced. 
... We have come almost in the opposite direction to which we intended.
