I've been reading along on this, trying to figure out how to be helpful.
 I think the basic problem is that you're using the wrong program.
STSPLUS is a great space shuttle tracking program, but it's optimized
for that and you want to do something different.  Try TRAKSAT.  It has a
multi track mode that will track up to six satellites at a time, and you
can set up several different sets of six.  It's easy to do, and works
great.  It's available on Dave Ransom's (author of STSPLUS) web site, so
whoever got that for you can get this too.  I hope this will ease your
frustration.  :)
