    There's a lot of excellent shareware on BBSs, and it tends to be freeware 
in practice.  (I wonder how many of the users ever pay?)  
    Since a lot of college students are writing theses for which they'll 
never get direct monetary pay, I think you'll eventually see a lot of 
text-quality items on the Internet.
