You think it has been over ruled or it definitely has been? Running a
plate is not like an illegal search. The officer is merely comparing what
the plate is attached to with what the plate is registered to in the
appropriate jurisdiction's records.

An unreasonable search involves searching the individual or his residence,
car etc. The only thing being searched by a computer check is the
jurisdiction's records, and any officer with a mobile computer already has
access to those records.
I check all sorts of license plates in the course of a day. It's amazing
how many of them come up expired, terminated, missing or unattached, or
registered to vehicles much different from the one to which it is supposed to
be attached.
