DM> Also got the first album from _Flash_.
KN> Well, at the time they *seemed* like an inferior Yes
KN> clone. Your senses were not deceiving you then, nor are
KN> they now. In fact, Flash sound better now than then.
KN> Here's a good one: go back and listen to Yes playing
KN> "Sweet Dreams" and ask yourself "is this a Yes tune or a
 KN> Flash tune?"
Sounds like a Patsy Cline tune. Oh, wait, that's the Don Gibson song,
not the Jon-Boy/David Foster (who he?) collaboration. Yeah, it is
pretty Flash-y. Flash could've been a heckuva band if they'd had
the Squire/Bruford rhythm section, ain'a? Though admittedly, Colin
Carter's voice is not quite as appealing as the 1970 model Jon A.
KN> And what the heck is a "wounded crockadeercat" as appears
KN> in one Flash lyric? That's almost up there with "Caesar
KN> salad, boring Tories, silly human [silly human!] race."
Well, at least they're wise enough not to print the lyrics on
the album sleeve or CD booklet... "ooga ooga ah-ooga ooga... (?)"
I just noticed Steve Howe is on the album front cover photo for
the U.S. _Time And A Word_ LP. An unsurprising and harmless act
of cluelessness, I suppose... I wonder why the UK album cover
wasn't good enough for the U.S. market?
DM> If anyone wants the second Pavlov's Dog on CD...
It disappeared from the store quicker than I expected. As I've had
no breathless replies, I trust its new owner will use it responsibly.
KN> Recently found a sealed 8-track copy of _Pampered Menial_
KN> much to the dismay of the canines in the neighbourhood.
 KN> Arf, they said.
Everything was fine until he opened the shrink wrap... The lapdogs
of Mt. Pleasant begin to froth and turn on their cornfed masters...
Izzit on Columbia or ABC records 'n tapes? My copy of the LP is
on ABC, perhaps a promo, but the only non-CBS version I ever saw...

NP: Flash: "Children Of The Universe"
