| subject: | Re: OS/400 and shared library hell |
From: "Ronnie T. Mungo, Boy Genius"
We have, shall we say, a unique system. The issue has been addressed but
will take a white to be corrected. There was a reason it was done as it
was. A stupid reason, but a reason.
And yes, we think differently. The comment was about the design of the
system. I didn't realize the ground rules apply differently if we didn't
like the target. I assumed that if something can be installed improperly,
that's all that mattered. Visibility has nothing to do with bad design and
poor practices. Work enough large systems projects and you discover this.
Indeed, sometimes the ones which _seem_ to have NO visibility are the ones
which hang you. That's when you leanr what visibility really is.
Poor practices are poor practices, whether Windows, OS/2, Linux, UNIX,
OS/400, SSP, PICK, MVS, or whatever else you have. You're using Windows
because you have a boner against Windows and you want to shoot at it for
fun. That cheapens your argument. It shouldn't matter what the system is.

In that case, I will remember the rules apply differently with members of
the forum I discuss things with.
