subject: Eagle Mountain Natl Guard Base

Does anyone out there know anything about the old Eagle Mountain Natl
Guard air base just northwest of Ft. Worth, TX. I've seen it on road maps of
the area (with runway layouts dipicted) for years now, but have NEVER been
able to find out much about it. The only thing I've ever heard was that it
closed some umpteen years ago and now it's part of a farmer's field (and that
the airstrip is totally unusable now because of which).
While I've always been somewhat curious about this, there was a (pretty
lame) TV movie called "Asteroid" last year in which it was stated that the
disaster field office was set up at an old National Guard Airbase north of
he
Dallas-Ft Worth metroplex. Having grown up in this area, the only such base I
can think of would be Eagle Mountain. This came up in a discussion with a
buddy who came down from NY recently, which re-piqued my curiosity.
Thanks...
