Since most MG> people can not figure out how to detect a BBS lockup, then shut it down MG> and restart it (Me included), it is easier to shut the system down.... Woah -- we have two distinct problems here. The first one is to detect when a BBS is hung -- I won't address that one. The second is to restart the BBS after a hang is detected. It's nearly as easy to kill a process and have it restart within a command file as it is to restart the entire OS, and a heck of a lot more polite (I'd be more than a little upset if the BBS hung in the background while I was working on something else or a tape backup was underway and OS/2 suddenly rebooted, for example). Therefore, it seems that what you want to do is _NOT_ reboot the system, but kill the renegade process and let the command file restart it. Wanting to reboot the OS smacks strongly of old single-tasking DOS-think. Programs to kill processes and the source on how to do it already exist. Tackle problem one above and resolve it to your satisfaction -- the rest is easy. If you have resolved problem one and need help with problem two for some reason, netmail me. --- XHEd-OS/2 1.22* Origin: The Pit (1:380/16) SEEN-BY: 105/42 620/243 711/401 409 410 413 430 807 808 809 934 955 712/407 SEEN-BY: 712/515 628 704 713/888 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 380/25 270/101 105/103 42 712/515 711/808 809 934 |
