What a wonderful time we had in the parade -- X was MARVLOUS (and, no
'poopies' either!!). X didn't get upset with the commotion, noise, kids,
ballons, fire trucks and/or sirens or floats ....... he DID, however, get a
wee bit upset with the bands (the boom, boom BOOM of the drums) but he didn't
so anything stupid ..... all he did was kinda' throw his head around -
letting us KNOW he did NOT LIKE those noises. However, after the parade got
started and we were actully rolling along in the parade, X was fine -- no
problems whatsoever. In fact, we were behind several horse and riders who
were directly behind a fire truck (with sirens going the entire parade route)
....... X didn't even pay any attention to them. He "walked on" when
commanded to ..... he "whoaed" when told to (and that was the entire parade
route). X acted like it was a typical day ride at home ......... what a
trouper!!
All in all it was a very seccussful venture - everyone LOVED the horse
and carriage ...... lots of people clapping and many groups even standing and
clapping (what a rush !!!)
Buddy had cleaned our "Sunday-go-to-meetin'" carriage up until it
absolutely SHINED ...... he had also worked on the harness all week .... the
brass sparkled and the leather was black and shiney like new.
We were are dressed in "period custume" ....... Buddy in a western type
suit and me in a long black skirt, white long sleeved lacy blouse and a
"Gibson girl" type hat (feathers and all ).
Soooooooo, now we have 1 parade under our belts .... and, I was very,
VERY pleased at how well behaved X was!! Just thought I'd let ya'll know how
it went.
