DL>Is this what used to be called HUCK WEAVING? However, the huck weaving
that
DL>have seen used embroidery thread, not yarn.
Well, I'm beginning to think maybe it is....several have asked the same
question. I'll have to try to find more information...just haven't been
able to get to the library yet.
DL>Besides looking like aida cloth, is there an additional raised loop, and
that
DL>is how the weaving is done?
Just a minute while I get the cloth out.....nope, same as aida.
DL>Are you prewashing the fabric to shrink this loop so the fabric is
smoother?
DL>In huck weaving, the design would be worked first, then the fabric washed
so
DL>that as the loops shrunk, the design would then be held tighter, and have
les
DL>chance of pulling if snagged.
I was told that if you worked the design with the yarn first and then
washed and dried the materail the fabric would shrink and not the yarn
thus leaving the yarn too loose. It would be easier to weave the yarn
before washing.
DL>Where are you buying the fabric? Name of store?
I bought mine at Wal-Mart. Off the bolt. I think my friend said she
got hers at a fabric store.
DL>Hope this didn't muddy the waters any.
I'll take all the info I can get....maybe among all of us we can figure
out what I'm talking about! :)
I've just got back to this message that I had answered ages ago but
never uploaded. Since then I have started working on my blanket and
have it about 1/3 done. It is very easy...just weaving over and under
but I find it relaxing while watching the boob tube at night....can't
just sit there and watch unless it is a crafting type program.
