-> We are still able to buy Crown Vics this year, but you are right, the
-> is not good for full-size police cars. This causes a big problem for
-> transport, etc. We are already looking at alternate vehicles that may
-> built with police packages. The GMC Taho is one. We are studying the
-> practicality of that now.
->
-> If we are forced to go to the much smaller vehicles, it will mean a l
-> inconvenience and down time for us, at least here. We would have to c
-> special transport vehicles for prisoners, maybe something like a full
-> van with the interior stripped out and fitted for transport. Who know
-> Crown Vic may be around longer. We've heard now for 2 years that it w
-> discontinued, but we are still buying them.

Last word i heard from Ford was the Crown Vic platform is suppose to be
out the door in 2000. As for Tahoes, SUVs arnt very practical, due to
their rolling over so often. Plus their acceloration is very lacking,
As i said we have a complete police baged Monte Carlo around here,
dunno if thats the future or not, while they're back seats arnt small
they arnt exactly big and would requite the front seat to fold down
before letting a crminal in the back puting the officer at risk. I
guess when the last of the big 'new muscle' cars like the Carpise and
Crown Vic are gone, police are gonna be driving little cars and always
have to call a van for prisnor transport, but that isnt a very
practical alterantive.
