Well, "Greensleeves" undoubtedly predates "What Child Is This?", but the
attribution to Henry VIII may be apochrophal.
In music history class in college, I was taught that "Greensleeves" was the
oldest known tune in English, with historical references to the tune dating
back to at least 1100 AD. Seeing as the professor had a PhD. in Early
Western Music, I think I'll go with that.
