The secret to success in the public messaging network is to first READ what
the other fellow says. Don't skip any words, phrases, sentences, or
paragraphs. READ and assimilate it all. FIRST. Before replying.
To that end, please READ my posts to which you responded, half-cocked and
rather unprepared.
I CLEARLY elucidated the room for error and the inexactness of my cull of the
database. Subsequent messages offered more clarification. It was incumbent
on YOU to read them. Had you done so, your above would not have been
necessary.
Then, it is reasonably vital for READERS to use their natural intelligence
when ripping through a message. Since you "know" the nodelist, then you
would also "know" that all but one of the mailers (XW) listed in the bottom
of the nodelist cannot be operated on a Mac.
If you want to argue that a Mac can run a DOS emulation, then do so. But
tell me how many self-respecting Mac'ers will run DOS on their holy machines,
especially when Mac software IS available? Some, maybe, but not many.
Not enough to skew the overall results that can be gleaned by a SEARCH for
"XW" mailer codes. So some "XW" codes aren't Mac's. That will be offset by
those Mac's that use FrontDoor in DOS emulation. The overall validity of my
analysis, statistically speaking, will not be appreciably altered.
My estimate and analysis WAS backed up with some checkable numbers. Yours is
only so much blah-blah.... and judging from what I've seen of your recent
posts on this echo and another one, please understand that this is the ONLY
and final semblance of a warning that you will receive.
Kindly place any further edged barbs, pseudo-attacks, and derrogatory
comments into either netmail or e-mail.
You are always free to disagree.....but when you do....do so WITHOUT malice,
emotion, diatribe......and do so WITH sum and substance. That is, if you
think there are more than 500 Macintoshes running FidoNet in North America,
then provide the BASIS for your contrary opinion.
Otherwise, don't opine.
