 Hi BjoRn

BF> My "old" camera was a Minolta Dimage 7 but it took so long time to
 BF> auto-focus (over 5
BF> sec) so I decided to change to a 300 D which does the job in less then
 BF> 1 sec. and now
 BF> I can also take a 4 pic:s in a row.
BF> I plan to take nice pic:s with it. :-)
 BF> The price included a 95-200 lens.

It's a very nice camera. Looking at it online I made that judgment.

BF> I will bring the camera, including my Sony HandyCam video to Bulgaria
 BF> in about 4
BF> weeks so I have to learn to take nice pics fast.

Remember it's the person holding the camera that makes nice pictures,
not the camera. But if the camera works better, maybe the person
holding the camera can spend more time on what is going to be in the
pictures and less on how the mechanicals work eh!

BF> What I'm wondering about is why there are symbols and functions for
BF> portrait, lanscape aso. I can't see any difference between that and
 BF> photographing in total

Generally a separate setting for landscape sets the camera focus to
infinity and the exposure meter to measure the light across the entire
view. A setting for portrait will usually set the camera to focus
closer and set the exposure for spot metering. That among other
 things.

 BF> auto mode.
BF> Canon also have a P(rogram) mode and the manual says that there isn't
BF> really any difference between P and fully Auto so why do they have a P
 BF> mode?

I don't have the camera you do, but on my camera in a manual setting, I
can cancel the flash and other magical operations, while I still use
the P program mode for setting exposure, white balance and focus. None of
those choices are available in the full automatic mode. There you take
what the camera wants to use.

B> Glad you broke the ice!

BF> Living in Sweden, that is a normal thing to do. :-)

 LOL.....

BF> I am using my real name but perhaps you can't see it since you use
BF> a Internet connection. I can see your name though.

 BF> //Bj”rn

We can't make the same o you use. :-)
