Hi Murray,
ML> Send an Email request to teampli{at}vnet.ibm.com and Christie
ML> Nieusma will send you literature...
I'd love to, but I haven't the spare change to plug into the WWW. Sorry.
You happen to have a land line number for her office?
ML> I have never written a program requiring serial I/O...
Bummer. Not even a "Hello world" type dumb terminal? :')
ML> You can open any of the standard I/O devices as files...
Well, that should cover serial devices ok, then...
ML> ...and have full access to the OS/2 API...
This is nice. Thanks for the info.
ML> I assume that Visual PL/I will compile only PM apps (I've never

You are my kind of person. The GUI is nice, but not my cuppatea...
ML> I compile only text mode apps...
See above... And this is where I'll be if I pick up a copy of the PL/I
compiler. Would you happen to knowif it's available on CDrom?
ML> WorkFrame/2 is included in the compiler package, but I've never

I doubt that I'll be using it either. At least for the short term.
Curiosity does get the best of me though, form time to time.

The runtime's of os/2 languages always seem to be quite large. CARealizer
had one a bit over 700K.
ML> Here is a little test program I wrote...
Thanks for the sample, Murry. It really does remind me of rexx. The thing I
like most about it is it was easily readable (if that's possible) and
didn't cause me an upset stomach like C does... :')
ML> If you want more information, ask in OS2PROG.
About all I can think of asking for is a voice number for Christie.
However, I think I can track her down at IBM.
