Blimey! That is a lot of questions! Before I write a 2000 word essay, have
you tried borrowing a few books from your local library? A good starter
is "Scanners" by (the late) Peter Rouse. I think there is a "Scanners II" as
well. Also Short Wave Magazine has regular columns and articles of interest
to the scanner owner.
