Hi Everyone,
It's been 20 something years since the last time I used FidoNet, and for
the last few months I am having a really bad nostalgia about the good-old
days. It was a wonderful time of discovery of OS/2, which, in my opinion,
had the best FTN Software. I think that my favorite editor was called
FleetStreet. I remember I was using T-Mail as a packer/mailer, FastEcho
as scanner/tosser, and GoldEd for text mode editing. I am not even sure
if T-Mail and FleetStreet was ever used in the United States, as I was
living in the zone 2 back than. I was trying to remember my old point
number, but I can't get past the node. 2:460/35.xx... It is not important
though, even the parts I can remember giving me enough flashbacks :)
What I really wanted to find out, is if it's possible to set up working
FidoNet point software package these days, getting a new account and get
reinstated as FidoNet point? :) I mean replacing the dial up part with
something internet based obviously, and keep the rest working more or
less as it was before? Nostalgia sake. I've got myself a "retro" 166MMX
Pentium laptop, which I am about to turn into a little Time Machine.
I was pretty much surprised finding working BBS, which gave me a little
hope that there might be still working nodes out there...
My apologies if I picked the wrong board to post this message or wrote
something off the topic.
Best regards,
Roman
