In looking at the team records, the AL Minnesota club played 164 games in
1967. I don't know the details as to why they played 164 games in a 162 game
season, but for some reason there are several teams who played a number of
games other than 162 that year, however the addition of the records seems
d:
Team G W L
-------------------
Boston 162 92 70
Minn 164 91 71 *
Det 163 91 71 *
Chi 161 89 73 *
Cal 161 84 77
Wash 161 76 85
Bal 161 76 85
Cle 162 75 87
NYY 163 72 90
KC 161 62 99
I'm not sure why the *'d lines don't add up, and I can't find anything on why
there are two teams with 163 and one with 164 games played that year. But,
in answer to your question, there doesn't seem to be anything "odd" as far as
Tovar playing 164 games, when it is recorded that his team played 164 games,
other than that he was very durable that year. 8-)
