In the matter of Cody Shearer Bob winds up compounding all of his misstatements, while mounting no defense against the facts. The only new wrinkle he adds is this: ~> EC> name on national TV. Shearer says he got death threats ~> EC> within MINUTES of the Matthews show that night. Internet ~> According to his lawyer's statements, at least in some articles, ~> it was days later. Gee... where does Earl get his facts. He sometimes intentionally misuses pronouns to create false impressions, and he does that here with "it." If "it" refers to the break-in to the garage, it is obvious and irrelevant that that happened "days later." But what he wants readers to believe is that "it" means Shearer didn't get threats until "days later." That is the only interpretation that would make his comment semi-relevant. Thing is, the Richmond Herald Dispatch put an actual reporter on the story, and he reported: "Shearer's spokesman said he started getting death threats ALMOST IMMEDIATELY after the "Hardball" program first was aired May 11." Bill Kovach's book is even more specific: "The show had been over FOR ONLY A FEW MINUTES when the first call came in. It was an anonymous deep voice threatening Shearer's life." As for the rest, he still blames Limbaugh for what Matthews said, he still mistakes Cody Shearer with a car tire, and he still maintains that Shearer (or his tire) was saved "only" because the police "caught" Hank Buchanan. In reality they did not "catch" him, and they didn't even contact his lawyer until three days later looking for him. He had checked himself into a mental facility after the garage break-in, and left it temporarily to turn himself in days later. The whole story about Buchanan "going after" Shearer with a knife and the police catching him and narrowly saving Shearer's life is all just a pile of klahn. The bottom line lesson of the whole thing is simple and often-restated. When Bobzo says someone else "creats a lie out of the whole cloth" it simply means Bobzo is doing exactly that and trying to divert attention from it. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5a* Origin: FidoTel & QWK on the Web! www.fidotel.com (1:124/311) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/200 331 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 226/0 SEEN-BY: 236/150 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/260 267 712/848 801/161 189 2222/700 SEEN-BY: 2320/100 105 5030/1256 @PATH: 124/311 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
