9mm, .40S&W and .45acp.
The orgional chambering was .40S&W, this being one of the few pistols
designed for that chambering rather than being scaled up from an existing
9mm plan. The result, is that the 9mm version uses a barrel of the same
outer dimensions, yet the barrel and chamber inner diameters are smaller,
resulting in one of the strongest, if not _the_ strongest 9mm chambers
made.
The USP40's barrel weighs over twice as much as my S&W's .40 barrel,
it'll mass even more with the smaller bore and chamber.
I don't know if they reccommend using +p ammo in the 9mm version, but the
barrel is easily beefier than Beretta's 92 series, and Beretta has no
restrictions on +p or +p+ ammo. From my own handloading experiments I
know the USP40 can absorb recoil of over 600 ft/lbs with no ill effects,
the hottest 9mm ammo you can buy should not be a problem for the USP.
