Yep,  the little blighter uses it's own memory (EEPROM) so it is ¨pretty
much self contained.  It samples 8 bit with very low ¨distortion

This could be a problem, the unit is designed to operate pretty much ¨on
it's own, it isn't the best communicator around.  In other words, ¨you can
store 128k of audio into it (at line level, or straight from ¨a mic) but
you can't get at that memory to extract the data stream! ¨It works great
for handling a number of set messages for responding ¨to user input,
errors, in game messages etc, but you can't store ¨these to disk!  Sad aint
it!
