Obviously you joke, but I'd be willing to bet the compass would't get on
the plane as carry-on here. The pointed end is easily a deadly weapon.
I was "relieved" of a fingernail clipper at the airport here
because the clipper had a little fold up file about two inches long that
came to a point.
Interestingly, on the return flight from Chicago, I was the only person on
that flight who was searched before boarding.
Incidentally, on the plane they prohibit using a digital camera for ten
minutes before and after takeoff.
